Business Development Manager – South East Asia

Job Introduction

The collaboration between ALE and Conbit enables us to extend our reach globally, and provide an enhanced and extended service offering to our clients in the fields of onshore and offshore oil and gas, offshore wind, decommissioning, petrochemicals and telecoms. 

The Business Development Manager – Asia role is a new one.  Its objectives are to research the potential opportunities in the above market sectors, work with our established businesses in the region to design and create solutions to the unique challenges faced, then develop a network of key relationships through which Conbit will receive Requests for Proposals or Quotations.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience of the challenges that clients in these sectors face, and the engagement process.  With prior experience in business development, you will ideally know the key influencers, and have a clear picture of how to introduce a bespoke technical solutions provider to new marketplaces.

You will spearhead Conbit’s continued drive into this specialist and complex market – to be successful you will rely on your technical skills and your industry experience, your ability to share and engage other stakeholders with a compelling vision, and your inner drive and conviction to take this from an idea to a thriving new team with an order book and a market presence. 

You will be confident, possessing the ability to talk and think in both technical and commercial terms.  You will be highly credible at executive level, happy to work alone and capable of both developing a realistic business development plan, and then executing it successfully. 

Role Responsibility

  • Build a portfolio of contacts within the target markets for Conbit.
  • Engage with contacts and share Conbit’s value proposition.
  • Work with engineering teams / R&D to create innovative solutions to client problems.
  • Engage with potential clients to enable early involvement in project work.
  • Prepare bids / tender documentation.
  • Track activities using Client Relationship Management (CRM) software.

The Ideal Candidate

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL

  • Bachelor degree, preferably engineering

DESIRABLE

  • Postgraduate qualification in structural / mechanical engineering
  • Sales Education

KNOWLEDGE

DESIRABLE

  • Exposure to the following sectors:
  1. onshore and offshore oil and gas
  2. offshore wind
  3. decommissioning
  4. petrochemicals
  • Flare tip manufacturers / suppliers

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • Previous experience in a Business Development / sales role

DESIRABLE

  • Working offshore
  • Selling Engineering solutions in the offshore, oil and gas, renewables sectors
  • Has lived and worked in Asia, specifically Thailand / Malaysia

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

ESSENTIAL

  • Independent
  • Self-driven / pro-active

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluent English (spoken and written)
