Diesel Mechanic

Job Introduction

As a Diesel mechanic you will be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all ALE vehicles and equipment. 

Role Responsibility

  • Maintain, service and repair fleet and equipment
  • Refurbishment of equipment
  • Ensure fleet is kept in a roadworthy and safe working condition.
  • Ensure fleet is serviced and maintained according to manufacturers and ALE Heavylift requirements 
  • Check correctness of replacement and service parts as well as oils and lubricants
  • Maintain accurate records of services and repairs, ensure all records are forwarded for processing.
  • Correspond and keep issues up to date with maintenance manager
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and all related repairs.
  • Manage fellow employees assisting with related duties

The Ideal Candidate

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL

  • Qualified diesel mechanic (Trade tested)
  • Code EC Drivers licence
  • English literacy, written and verbal

 

DESIREABLE

 

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • Min 5years mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic experience
  • Sound knowledge of all fleet related repairs and maintenance
  • Advanced knowledge of Diesel mechanical repairs
  • Basic trailer knowledge
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures

 

DESIREABLE

  • Truck and logistic experience

 

SKILLS

ESSENTIAL

  • Advanced mechanical and hydraulic fault finding skills

 

DESIREABLE
