Naval Architect

Job Introduction

The role of Graduate Naval Architect is to control and execute the engineering activities and project management of ALE Offshore Service including feasibility study for Load-out, Float-over, Float-off, Launching and various marine heavy lift operations. The successful candidate is also expected to be knowledgeable and can perform Barge Computer Modelling, Stability Assessment, Structure Checks & Design, Ballast Study, Mooring Analysis, Sea-Fastening Design, and Material Take-off as well as Site Implementation

Role Responsibility

  • Perform marine engineering design calculations using available software
  • Prepare reports and analysis for projects and tenders
  • Assist the engineering team in carrying out feasibility studies
  • Ensure work on site as per design
  • Monitor, engage, liaises and coordinate project performance in all stages; from tender stage, execution and completion
  • All tasks must be carried out in a timely and accurate manner and must comply with company guidelines and all health, safety, quality and environmental (HSQE) regulations.
  • Ensure that any tools / equipment used is in line with HSQE guidelines and must be stored correctly when finished with. Any defects or malfunctions must be reported as per company procedure.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE - ESSENTIAL

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Marine Engineer / Naval Architect

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE - DESIREABLE

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline
  • Proficient Math and Physics

EXPERIENCE - ESSENTIAL

  • Relevant experience in a similar position

EXPERIENCE - DESIREABLE

  • Work placement in offshore projects / similar engineering field / shipyards / engineering office

SKILLS - ESSENTIAL

  • Proficient in MS Applications / Excel / Word / Outlook/ Powerpoint
  • Good English communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to solve ad-hoc problems quickly with clearly defined solutions
  • Knowledgeable in related engineering softwares such as AutoCAD, MATHCAD

SKILLS - DESIREABLE

  • Knowledge in Marine Engineering Softwares such as MOSES, SACS, OPTIMOOR,  AUTOHYDRO

OTHER REQUIREMENTS - DESIREABLE

  • Knowledge in Structural Analysis is an advantage
