Project Manager

Job Introduction

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate to work as a Project Manager based in our Fortitude Valley office, Brisbane.  The successful candidate will be overseeing projects and work packages typically in the range from $500K to $5m.  The position would suit candidates with project management experience or candidates with experience working in a larger project management teams wishing to develop into a project management position.

Role Responsibility

  • Manage the Project Management process, including scheduling activities, change management,  meetings, plans, documentation control, project administration and reporting.
  • Tracking project activity using appropriates tools, software and controls.
  • Project budgeting and cost control
  • Management of Project meetings and meeting records, including handovers, mid project and close out meetings.
  • Liaise with the Client, Engineers, Operation Superintendents, HSQE manager, Finance team and general management to ensure project deliverables and deadlines are achieved.
  • Manage procurement and sub-contractors
  • Contract management
  • Project invoicing schedules, identification and submission of variations
  • Ensure compliance with all ALE HSQE and Project Management processes

The Ideal Candidate

You will be flexible, self-motivated and have a 'can do' attitude. The successful candidate should ideally have proven experience of working in a similar role within a fast-paced, dynamic project delivery environment in the resource/construction sector and will be detail-orientated. You will be used to meeting challenging deadlines and improve performance through continuous improvement and use of business tools.

Your IT skills will be of a high standard particularly in Excel and Project Planning tools such a MS Project. 

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE - DESIREABLE

  • Degree level qualification preferably in relevant field

EXPERIENCE - DESIREABLE

  • Experience in a similar field
  • Experience of project orientated admin/cost control/management
  • Experience in Transport & Logistics/ Construction industry

SKILLS - ESSENTIAL

  • Proficiency in Excel / Word / Outlook / Project (or equivalent)
  • Excellent English both written and oral.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills

SKILLS - DESIRABLE

  • Experience with an ERP software is considered an asset.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES - ESSENTIAL

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, proactive, good initiative and ability to work under pressure.
  • Independent worker being able to work with minimal supervision.
  • High level of self-motivation.
  • Able to learn new techniques and procedures.
  • Quality and detail focus.
  • Organized.

  • Effective Planner

OTHER REQUIREMENTS – ESSENTIAL

  • Current and valid driving license
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia
