Senior Engineer

Job Introduction

As the senior engineer, you will oversee the engineering performance across our country offices in Indonesia ensuring company guidelines are adopted for Engineering, Health, Safety, Quality & Environment.

Furthermore, you will set the vision for, and oversee the training, coaching and mentoring of all engineers and engineering managers across all disciplines in the region.

This is an extremely  exciting, diverse and challenging role that will test your communication, time management and influencing skills to the limit, as well as establishing you as the exemplar for engineering standards and performance in our South East Asia businesses

Role Responsibility

  • To implement and ensure all new engineering guidelines are followed by each of the offices within Indonesia
  • To manage and control quality of engineering output from the region
  • To manage and ensure all engineering KPI’s are met by the offices 
  • To Implement strategies to ensure future progression and development of the engineering offices
  • Responsibility for the direction and goals of all engineering offices based in the South East Asia region. Supporting engineering teams in the planning and organising of their workloads ensuring that they perform their given tasks to an acceptable standard and to their given deadlines.
  • Attend operational planning meetings with Regional Operations and Commercial Heads to establish current and future work requirements and agree deadlines for submission of documentation.
  • Coach and train engineering managers and teams on the production of design calculations to relevant standards.  Agreeing and implementing a calculations checking process prior to issue.
  • Set the standard for production approval of RAMS documentation to ALE standards and guidelines.
  • Establish good relationships between engineering, operations and commercial teams in order to ensure the smooth planning of projects and hand over hand over equipment lists, plant requirements, labour requirements and RAMS in advance of project commencement.
  • Establish and reinforce best practice in site visits to measure and record specific information and ensure that this information is incorporated into the RAMS.
  • To assist the company with its operational needs by carrying out the role of Country Engineering Manager during busy periods / employee sickness.
  • Main point of contact with the client on site in the case of large / complex projects with regards to coordination, project programme, engineering issues HSQE and welfare issues.
  • Provide technical support to the ALE country managers.
  • Take an active lead in HSQE – in engineering design, project execution, communication, behaviour.  Set the expectations with country managers and reinforce regularly with coaching session, site visits and training.
  • To be aware of and up to date with the company HSQE and relevant legislation and play an active role in the implementation and development / improvement of HSQE / legislation.
  • Engage with the country managers and take an active role in the planning, attraction, selection and development of new engineering team members.

The Ideal Candidate

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL

Bachelors or Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline

DESIRABLE

IOSH / NEBOSH Certificate

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

At least 5 years’ experience in a heavy-lift and heavy transport industry working in an engineering department

DESIRABLE

At least 2 years’ experience in a management role

Experience of creating a vision for a team, and then inspiring others to buy in to this vision

SKILLS

ESSENTIAL

Able to problem solve to a complex level.

Able to plan and organize under pressure

Able to invent and put forward new methods of and work and or modifications to existing systems in order to increase our efficiency and or improve Health and Safety

Very effective communicator, with the ability to adapt to suit the audience

Evolved and effective time management disciplines

Coaching and mentoring capability

High quality written and spoken english
