HSE Advisor

Job Introduction

ALE Heavylift (Australia) Pty Ltd require a  HSQE Advisor for based in Brisbane, Queensland.

As part of the role you will be responsible for on-site implementation of HSQE management plans including acting as a coach on-site to achieve improved HSQE performance.

You will be a good communicator with the ability to adapt your approach to meet the needs of a culturally diverse business. Computer literate and a strong team player, you will be proactive and pragmatic and able to drive the safety culture down to the workforce.

You will have suitable levels of qualification in Workplace Health, Safety, and Environment and ideally you will have experience in lifting and specialised heavy transportation or a related discipline.

Role Responsibility

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In conjunction with the ALE’s HSQE vision and direction, assist to implement within the company’s organization, and engage stakeholders at all levels to participate positively in achieving this vision.
  • Lead by example in implementation of policies, systems, objectives and procedures, conferring with the management and Operations teams.
  • Maintaining an Incident/Hazard reporting system, coordinating Incident investigation and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Maintain HSE documentation.
  • Support operations with HSE advice and HSE presence on-site.
  • Participate in internal audits to ensure compliance to legal, internal, client and any other applicable requirements.
  • Ensure that relevant and timely HSE Information is collected and collated and made available. 
  • Identify and share lessons learned from incidents.  Evaluating the effectiveness of actions taken as a result.
  • Coordination of HSE & Emergency management training,
  • Liaise with client representatives, health & safety representatives and relevant statutory authorities

  • Clear concise communicator – written and verbal – adapting style to suit audience (site operator-client-managers)
  • Must be able to work as part of a team but also act independently when required
  • Able to learn new techniques and procedures
  • Able to solve ad-hoc problems quickly with clearly defined solutions
  • Able to influence others
  • Proactive
  • Confident presenter, to front line personnel.
  • Will be based inBrisbane but able to spend time in the project site during the week.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

    ESSENTIAL

  • Cert IV Workplace Health & safety

   DESIRABLE

  • Cert IV Training & Assessing
  • Quality Management Systems training
  • Lead investigator training

KNOWLEDGE  

   ESSENTIAL

  • Intermediate Excel / Word / PowerPoint / Outlook skills

EXPERIENCE  

 

   ESSENTIAL

  • At least 5 years’ experience as WHS Advisor
  • Experience in Transport/Logistics/ Construction based industries

   DESIRABLE

  • Experience in heavy lifting environment
