Human Resources Manager

Job Introduction

The Human Resources (HR) Manager will play a vital role in helping to ensure that the key needs of our ALE people are supported by ensuring the company excels in recruitment, employee engagement, recognition and development.  

Role Responsibility


  • Ensure a comprehensive recruitment process where top talent is attracted, identified, maintained and secured
  • Oversee and ensure company recruitment processes (online database) are followed and documented
  • Support hiring managers in timely and effective recruitment from planning to interview and selection
  • Monitor all recruitment activity, with the objective of minimising agency usage / time to hire / recruitment cost

Engagement & Recognition

  • Ensure staff are provided performance reviews and career planning
  • Assist with prioritising and identifying internal candidates for new recruitment prior to seeking external candidates
  • Ensure a robust system that identifies and provides training and development for staff

Handling underperformance / conduct issues

  • Ensure discipline within the company is efficient, firm and fair by assisting managers with carrying out disciplinary, grievance and employee relations processes in accordance with legislative and business requirements

Record Keeping / Contracts

  • Ensure personnel employee files are maintained as required to meet legislative and business requirements

Training and development

  • Departmental training coordination ensuring staff are aware of training and the training details
  • Record keeping of training conducted and planned
  • Training spend maintained in line with BBBEE spend requirement
  • Overseeing departmental training matrices and management thereof

The Ideal Candidate


A degree or qualification in Human Resources Management, or similar (essential)


  • At least 5 years in previous Senior HR Management role
  • Experience in dealing with blue and white collar workforce of 200 or more with a vast geographical spread
  • Experience in dealing with IR and labour unrest
  • A background within a global construction or logistics organization
  • Experience in formulation and implementation of employment and recruitment policies and strategies to achieve organizations' BBBEE objectives


  • Good standards of written work
  • Good command of English and any of the 11 official languages
  • Computer literate
  • Versed in HR processes and procedures, as well as BBBEE and labour legislation
  • Understanding and experience in cross border employment and service requirements, particularly within the Africa context
