Maintenance & Equipment Engineer

Job Introduction

ALE GPD is responsible for the development of leading edge technical solutions for large multi-disciplinary projects using unique and specialised equipment.

As maintenance and equipment engineer you will participate in the maintenance and inspection of specialized equipment.

You will participate in the execution of projects, by designing and checking components for the fabrication in-house or by external suppliers. This will include full specification, analysis and checking of work carried out by others.

Role Responsibility

  • Responsibility for producing of maintenance and inspection procedures and keeping track of maintenance and inspection activities in various locations.
  • Liaise with the site PM to ensure that the maintenance and inspection works may be carried out in accordance with the procedures.
  • Liaising with internal and external clients to ensure the requirements are being met.
  • Responsible for implementation of equipment and maintenance in IFS (ERP system).
  • Designing new structures and equipment in cooperation with other engineers or disciplines, such as mechanical, hydraulics and electrical.
  • Contributing to a pro-active and co-operative working environment within the company.

The Ideal Candidate



  • Degree in a related Engineering discipline (structural, mechanical, civil)


  • VCA
  • Risk Assessment Training




  • Relevant experience within the heavy lifting and transport industry
  • Working within an engineering department (2+ years post graduate)
  • Significant on-site working experience.
  • Knowledge of the heavylift / transport sector.
  • Relevant experience/knowledge with weld inspection techniques.



  • Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel are required.


  • High level of AutoCAD
  • Project Planning Software



  • High level of self motivation.
  • Can work independently and takes initiative.
  • Good communicator – written and verbal in English language.
  • Able to work as part of a team

  • Able to invent and propose new methods of work/modifications to existing systems

  • Flexibilty is required, and willingness to undertake travel and work for short periods away from normal place of work (worldwide).

  • Current and valid passport, no restrictions
