Project Engineer

Job Introduction

You will create detailed project plans and work instructions to ensure that these solutions are delivered on time and on budget to the client’s satisfaction whilst meeting our stringent commitments to health and safety, quality and impact on the environment. Role Responsibility

  • Create engineering solutions to clients’ heavy transport and installation requirements, working both on site and in the engineering office.
  • Attend site to conduct detailed surveys for the purposes of bids, feasibility analysis, routing and hazard identification, in order to develop a project methodology with calculations, swept path and installation drawings and full job specification.
  • Production and handover of Risk Assessments and Method Statement documentation (RAMS), equipment lists, engineering drawings, design calculations, rigging studies, operations programs, plant and labor requirements for both proposals and the execution of works; ensuring these documents comply with company procedures, legislative guidance and good practice.
  • Attend kick off meetings with Commercial and Operations teams to establish the clients’ exact requirements and agree deadlines for submission of documentation, in both English.
  • Attend site during execution of the project, collaborating with and supporting the site supervisor and crew. Act as the main point of contact with the client on site with regards to coordination, project program, engineering and HSQE issues.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure activities are compliant within ALE’s agreed scope and program, with timely and suitable communication of any required changes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS

    ESSENTIAL

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Marine or other related engineering discipline

KNOWLEDGE

    ESSENTIAL

  • Understanding of the service, construction and/or transport industries
  • Familiarity with service-delivery project life cycle
  • Fully versant with latest versions of AutoCAD software

   DESIRABLE

  • In-depth knowledge of the heavy lifting and specialized transport sector
  • Contractual awareness

EXPERIENCE

   ESSENTIAL

  • 1 year in a similar role
  • Site work/coordination

    DESIRABLE

  • Previous work in the heavy lifting and transport, construction, petrochemical or related industry
  • Previous experience working abroad and/or with a diverse range of international companies, EPCs etc
  • Marine Operations, load in/load outs
  • Gantries assemblies
  • Crane Operations

SKILLS & ABILITIES

    ESSENTIAL

  • Good active knowledge of IT applications and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project)
  • Good communicator – written and verbal, able to work with people of all levels and cultures
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Able to solve ad-hoc problems quickly with clearly defined solutions

    DESIRABLE

  • Competent use of other software such as ERP, Skype, 3-D Design, FEA software knowledge
  • Fluent in Spanish
