Proposals Engineer

Job Introduction

Our Global Sales Team are involved with tendering and securing of multi-disciplinary heavy lift and transport projects worldwide aiming to offer our clients an integrated solution. Market sectors include. petrochemical, offshore, mining and minerals, renewables.

The role of Proposals Engineer is to assist the Head of Proposals in order to fulfil client requirements (typically EPCs) in terms of accurate, comprehensive, compliant proposals in timely response to detailed and onerous proposal requests.

Role Responsibility


With training and guidance working under the Head of Proposals, the aim of this role is to develop your talent and capabilities. Ultimately when trained, the role will include:

  • Review of all invitation to tender documents to identify actions required.
  • Ownership of the full tendering process
  • Communicate and liaise with clients (including face to face meetings) to better understand their needs and issues to successfully offer a solution they require
  • Co-ordination with relevant departments Contracts, Insurance, Engineering, HQSE, Operations, Logistics etc.
  • Co-ordination with ALE Group in order to incorporate as much detailed and specific information and technical knowledge as possible
  • Co-ordinate with the Sales and Management team during the tendering phase to sell the project (e.g. pricing, strategy)
  • Produce both commercial and technical proposal documents in accordance with client specific requirements
  • Establishing resources and schedules, liaising both internally and externally to obtain costs in order to produce detailed pricing / budgets
  • Ensure compliance with local and international laws and regulations
  • Achieve and maintain the highest possible standards, within the timescales given, in terms of tender response
  • Assist / initiate and maintain relationships with potential customers, monitor developments, co-ordinate the tendering process.
  • Assist in handover of secured projects to Project Managers.

The role will be based in Breda, Netherlands although it will involve spending time in other ALE overseas branches to gain necessary experience (e.g. UK)


The Ideal Candidate





  • Knowledge of the oil and gas, mining and minerals, nuclear, renewable energies industries
  • Engineering or similar degree educated


  • Experience in similar or project engineering role – 4 years
  • Industrial Project Engineering
  • Heavy Lift / Transport Industry experience
  • Working with EPC companies


  • Advanced Excel / Word / PowerPoint / Outlook
  • Excellent / Native written English
  • Excellent Mathematical Skills

  • Role to be based in Breda, Netherlands
  • Willing to travel nationally and internationally
