Routing and Logistics Co-ordinator

Job Introduction

As an ALE Routing and Logistics Co-ordinator you will be responsible for coordinating transportation and routing related activites under supervision, within the operations department. Your role will be key in ensuring that all routing permits and third party arrangements are in place to ensure projects are successfully delivered, along with various other operational activities.

Role Responsibility

  • Assistance with general routing activities i.e. special order & VR1 applications, routing of trailers using the ESDAL system (Electronic System for Delivery of Abnormal Loads), compiling of route reports, recording of street furniture invoices, liaising with local authorities with regard to outstanding responses to route investigation studies etc
  • Dealing with drivers, operational and on-site personnel (including out of hours contact as needed on occasion)
  • Complying of driver packs (i.e. routes, RAMS, HSQE documentation)
  • Key user responsible for raising of purchase orders on GMS (Global Management System - IFS) and use of GMS to support the operations team.
  • Booking/liaising with third party contractors for UK / European haulage, cranes and plant/equipment.
  • Liaising with sub-contractors to collect outstanding proof of delivery documentation
  • Liaising with clients with regard to purchase orders
  • Ferry bookings for standard trailers/personnel & raising of purchase orders to cover
  • General administrative duties to support the wider tea
  • Holiday cover for operations office personnel

The Ideal Candidate




NVQ Level III Business & Administration or equivalent, Background in a transport environment/administrative background.

Bachelors degree in relevant subject area



2 Years experience in a purchasing role (within or out of the transport industry)

Experience of a first line role within a Transport office



Good Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word abilities able to produce professional emails, documents, spreadsheets and presentations


Transport routing skills

IFS or other ERP Systems



Full eligibility to work in the UK is required

Excellent communication skills



Must be able to work as part of a team


Good attention to detail
