Site Manager

Job Introduction

As a Site Manager you will be responsible for the planning and management of all activities on site and to ensure that this is done in line with clients requirements and Mammoet's company policies, procedures and business ethics whilst striving to deliver excellent customer service. You should have excellent people skills as you will be communicating with all levels of staff and the client,and will be attending site meetings. Your role will be key in promoting Mammoet's image of providing a professional and safety conscious working environment. You will be required to work with Mammoet Operations and project teams within South Africa.

Role Responsibility

  • Manage and co-ordinate all activities on site to ensure optimal production.
  • Manage Information flow between yourself and the Project Manager to ensure that components arrive timeously on site
  • Liaise with the client to maintain good relationships and attend site meetings.
  • Monitor and maintain strict work schedules to ensure that  progress are in line with Project time lines.
  • Provide Project reports to ensure that Project Manager is up to speed with progress
  • Ensure that Company HSQE Policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to
  • Be pro-active in identifying problems and taking preventative action
  • Ensure that all records and administrative tasks are completed to company specifics 

The Ideal Candidate

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE - ESSENTIAL

  • Degree Preferably in Mechanical, Civil Engineering or Construction Management discipline

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE - DESIREABLE

  • Cost Reporting
  • Risk Assessment Training
  • Site management
  • Logistics
  • Lifting Best Practice

EXPERIENCE - ESSENTIAL

  • Minimum 3 to 5  years’ experience similar role

EXPERIENCE - DESIREABLE

  • Proven experience in transport or heavylift markets with evidence of delivering targets and achieving objectives

SKILLS - ESSENTIAL

  • Intermediate Excel / Word / PowerPoint / Outlook
  • Some knowledge of planning software

SKILLS - DESIREABLE

  • Negotiation

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES – ESSENTIAL

  • High level of self-motivation and self-management
  • Good communicator – Written and verbal
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Able to learn new techniques and procedures
  • Able to invent and propose new methods of work / modifications to existing systems

  • Willing to travel and work within Southern Africa for extensive periods
  • Current and valid driving license
